Publicity for Peace Conference (2006)

Participated on a team that organized a Middle East peace conference in Kansas City, attracting 300 area residents with a $30,000 budget. The purpose of the conference was for education and advocacy, bringing 25 speakers from the Middle East and throughout the United States.

As publicity coordinator for the two-day event, I developed news releases, web and print publicity materials. The conference was the largest on the issue in Kansas City history.

The Kansas City Sabeel Conference held in October 2006 was an opportunity to promote a culture of peace. The conference aimed to raise awareness about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to develop partnerships to work towards a peaceful resolution founded on mutual respect and justice. The conference set out to do this by bringing together individuals, faith and secular groups to have a respectful, forthright dialog.

The website functioned as a traditional conference website, providing information on speakers, program schedule, registration, and accomodations.

Generating News... Several news reports focused on the conference.

Conference reporting - The website also provided post-conference reports, photos, and videos. The videos were produced through a contract with an amateur videographer.
